Rolito Go News and Update

The Convicted killer Rolito Go is back in custody and was found to have minor injuries, PNP Chief, Director General Nicanor Bartolome confirmed today August 16, 2012 Thursday.

Bartolome said they found Go late Wednesday and is now under PNP custody.

"There are still procedures we have to go through before he is returned to Bilibid," Bartolome said in a phone interview, refusing to provide details.

But in a report quoting Bartolome in a dzBB interview, it was claimed that Go and his nurse-nephew Clemence Yu were abducted and apparently brought to Batangas.

"They were apparently brought to Batangas, kanina ni-release sila at sila ay sumakay sa Lucena Bus at doon sila bumaba sa Alabang (They were allegedly brought to Batangas and released. They took a bus and got off at Alabang)," Bartolome reportedly said in a dzBB interview. The report noted abductors gave Go and Yu money for fare.

Go and his nephew had supposedly been abducted Tuesday night.

Convicted murderer Rolito Go has gone missing from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, prison officials said yesterday.

NBP superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. said Go was last seen near his kubol or hut about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday and failed to show up during the headcount about three hours later.

Bureau of Corrections director Gaudencio Pangilinan confirmed the escape when Go again failed to show up at the mandatory headcount of inmates yesterday morning.

“We consider him an escapee. If proven, he will be charged with evasion of sentence,” Schwarzkopf said.

As a minimum security prisoner with designated work assignment, Go is allowed to live outside the prison compound but still inside the NBP reservation. His hut is located beside the Inang Awa Church.
Go, 63, was convicted for killing engineering student Eldon Maguan in 1993. Go is reportedly up for parole next year.
