PAGASA Weather News and Update for Bagyong Ruby


PAGASA Weather News and Update for Bagyong Ruby as of 11:00AM advisory today Nine areas were placed under Storm Signal No. 1 before noon Thursday as Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) intensified further and may make landfall over Samar Saturday morning, state weather agency PAGASA said.

PAGASA said Ruby was estimated at 860 km east of Surigao City as of 10 a.m., packing maximum winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.

PAGASA said Ruby is forecast to move west-northwest at 20 kph and is expected to be at 395 km east-southeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar Friday morning.

By Saturday morning, it is expected to be at 30 km northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar and will make landfall over the Samar area before noon.

On Sunday morning, it is expected to be at 20 km south-southwest of Romblon.
Under Storm Signal No. 1 are:

  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Samar
  • Biliran
  • Leyte
  • Southern Leyte
  • Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Dinagat

Under Signal No. 1, twigs and branches of trees may be broken while banana plants may tilt or land flat on the ground.

Rice in flowering stage may suffer significant damage while some nipa and cogon houses may be partially unroofed.

PAGASA Weather News and Forecast for Bagyong RUBY at 4:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon "RUBY" was located based on all available data at 942 km East Northeast of hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur or 1, 023 km East of Surigao City (9.4°N, 134.8°E), with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 25 kph. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern Luzon.

Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with light rains. The regions of Cordillera and Ilocos will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and eastern section of Visayas and of Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north with slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA Weather News and Update for Typhoon Ruby


PAGASA Weather News and Update for Typhoon Ruby the Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon. Meanwhile, at 4:00 AM today, the center of Typhoon with international name "HAGUPIT" was located based on all available data at 1670 km east of Mindanao (6.8ºN, 141.7ºE), with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 30 kph.

Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains. The Regions of Cordillera, Ilocos, and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
