Iloilo City Charter Day and Dragon Boat Competition

Iloilo City Charter Day and Dragon Boat Competition. There are 10 teams joined for action in the 2nd Sen. Franklin M. Drilon Dragon Boat Competition on August 24, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Iloilo River.

There are 10 teams who compete in the Dragon Boat competition: 6 teams from Metro Manila, 2 from Iloilo City and 2 from Boracay. Each team is composed of 22 members including 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steer. The race is 200 meters along Muelle Loney Street.

There will be three categories:

• mixed (eight women and 14 men)
• men’s category, and
• novice.

The race is one of the activities lined up for the city’s Charter Day celebration.

The Iloilo City Charter anniversary is on August 25, 2013.

The Office of Senate President Drilon, the Philippine Olympic Commission, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation and the Iloilo City Sports and Development Office are joining hands to make the dragon boat race possible.
