Watch Nonito Donaire vs Jorge Arce Fight


Watch Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire against Mexican Fighter Jorge Arce. The fight of Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce (61-6-2, 46 KOs) in a 12-round WBO junior featherweight title fight is scheduled on Sunday, December 16, 2012 Filipino Time at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Donaire vs Arce will headline the HBO fightcard and will be contested for Donaire's WBO junior featherweight title. Arce previously held the title in 2011 defending it successfully once before vacating it to fight the WBO bantamweight title. 

Donaire won the vacant title by defeating Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. by 12-round split decision in February 2012 and has successfully defended it twice this year. Arce will be coming down from the 126 lbs division to fight Donaire at 122 lbs in hopes of recapturing the title.

Darchinyan vs Donaire
On Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Harbour Yard Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Nonito Donaire defeated Vic Darchinyan by 5th round TKO. Donaire felt it avenged his brother Glen Donaire's TD loss to Darchinyan. (Glen Donaire quit in the 6th round after complaining to the referee that his jaw was broken from a head butt although numerous replays showed no head butt had occurred.) Donaire captured Darchinyan's titles with the win.

Donaire vs Maldonado
On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, Nonito Donaire defeated Luis Maldonado (37-3-1, 28 KOs) by 8th round TKO. Maldonado suffered cuts over both eyes during the fight and was down in round seven. It was Nonito Donaire's first successful IBF and IBO flyweight title defenses since winning them from Vic Darchinyan in July 2007.

Donaire vs Mthalane
Nonito Donaire defeated mandatory challenger South African Moruti Mthalane (22-2-0, 15 KOs) by 6th round TKO on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. The IBF and IBO flyweight title fight which took place on the Chavez vs Vanda II undercard was stopped at 1:31 of round six due to a cut on the inside of Mthalane's left eyelid.

Donaire vs Martinez
On Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines, Nonito Donaire defeated formerly undefeated Raul Martinez (24-1-0, 14 KOs) of San Antonio, Texas by 4th round TKO. Martinez just couldn't seem to stop keep getting caught by Donaire's left uppercuts. He was down twice in round one, once in round three and a final time in round four prompting referee Pete Podgorski to stop the bout at 2:42. Donaire retained his IBF and IBO flyweight titles.

Donaire vs Concepcion
Nonito Donaire defeated Panamanian Rafael Concepcion (13-4-1, 8 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision winning the interim WBA super flyweight title on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113. Concepcion weighed-in 4 1/2 lbs over the super flyweight limit losing a chance at the title on the scale. The fight was promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank and televised on HBO PPV.

Donaire vs Vargas
Donaire defeated late replacement Mexican Manuel Vargas (26-5-1, 11 KOs) by 3rd round knockout on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, Nevada for the interim WBA super flyweight title. Donaire was scheduled to fight Gerson Guerrero but he failed his pre-fight eye examination. Vargas, clearly overmatched was put down on the canvas in the 3rd round for the count from a combination. Donaire vs Vargas headlined The Latin Fury 13/Pinoy Power 3 fight card televised live on iNDEMAND promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank.

Donaire vs Marquez
On Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Nonito Donaire defeated Hernan Marquez (27-2-0, 20 KOs) by 8th round TKO in an interim WBA World super flyweight title fight. Donaire fought in a southpaw stance for half of the fight with mixed results. When he switched back to an orthodox stance in round five he dropped Marquez. In round eight Donaire sent Marquez to the canvas again prompting Marquez's corner to stop the fight. Donaire vs Marquez took place on the Juan Manuel Lopez vs Bernabe Concepcion fight card.

Donaire vs Sydorenko
Donaire defeated former bantamweight champion Ukrainian Volodymyr Sydorenko (22-3-2, 7 KOs) by 4th round KO on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Sydorenko was also down in rounds 1 and 3. In addition to his victory Donaire also captured the vacant WBC Continental Americas bantamweight title. The win will earn Donaire a legitimate title shot.

Donaire vs Montiel
On Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nonito Donaire defeated Fernando Montiel (43-3-2, 33 KOs) at 2:25 of round 2 by TKO. In the 2nd round Donaire hit Montiel with a counter left hook that put Montiel flat on his back on the canvas. Montiel beat the count but was glassy eyed and on shaky legs. Donaire immediately went for the kill hitting Montiel with a combination of punches prompting the referee to step in and stop the bout. In addition to his victory Donaire captured Montiel's WBC and WBO bantamweight titles.

Donaire vs Narvaez
Donaire defeated previously undefeated Argentinian Omar Andres Narvaez (35-1-2, 19 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision in a WBC/WBO bantamweight title fight on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Scores were 120-108, 120-108 and 120-108. Donaire the much bigger man pitched a shutout in boring fight. Narvaez stayed behind a high quard preventing Donaire from landing a knockout punch. The fight was Donaire's last at 118 lbs. He plans to move up to the 122 lb junior featherweight/super bantamweight division.

Donaire vs Vazquez
On Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Nonito Donaire defeated Puerto Rican Wilfredo Vazquez Jr (21-2-1, 18 KOs) by 12-round split decision in a super bantamweight title fight . Scores were 117-110, 117-110 and 112-115. In addition to his victory Donaire also picked up the vacant WBO super bantamweight title. This was Donaire's first fight at 122 lb. Donaire scored a knockdown of Vazquez in round nine with a left uppercut followed by a left hook. It was the first time in Vazquez's career that he had been knocked down to the canvas. Post fight once the gloves were off Donaire showed the crowd his blood soaked left hand which he injuried between the second and fourth rounds.

Donaire vs Mathebula
Donaire defeated former IBF super bantamweight champion Jeffrey Mathebula (26-4-2, 13 KOs) of South Africa by 12-round unanimous decision in a IBF and WBO super bantamweight title fight on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Scores were 119-108, 118-109 and 117-110. Mathebula had a 5 inch height advantage but Donaire leveled the playing field with his left hook. In round four Donaire landed a big left hook knocking down Mathebula for the first time in his pro career. Then in round eleven Donaire landed a straight right to Mathebula's jaw. After that punch Mathebula stopped throwing punching, was backing up and holding his gloves up tight to his face. Post fight examination in South Africa determined that Donaire broke Mathebula's jaw.

Donaire vs Nishioka
Donaire defeated Toshiaki Nishioka (39-5-3, 24 KOs) by 9th round TKO in a WBC Diamond and WBO super bantamweight title fight at the ADT Event Center in the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Donaire put Nishioka down on the canvas in rounds six and nine. Nishioka beat the count both times but referee Raul Caiz stopped fight at 1:54 of round nine after Donaire landed an uppercut on Nishioka moments later. Nishioka had not lost a fight since 2004 and in the last 8 years he fought 17 times, 8 of which were WBC super bantamweight title fights. By beating Nishioka, Donaire proved he is the real deal because Nishioka was the best in the 122 lb division.
