Watch Pinoy Pride XV: The Rematch Philippines vs Mexico at
the Waterfront Hotel and Casino on August 19, 2012. Former world title challenger Jimrex Jaca
makes his ring return on Aug. 18 in the 15th installment of the popular “Pinoy
Pride” boxing series at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.
The 29-year-old Jaca reunited with ALA Promotions just last
month after breaking away from Spanish promoter Rafael Sancho. The renowned
international boxing promotional outfit gave Jaca a slot in the upcoming “Pinoy
Pride XV,” where he has to show an impressive performance.
Titled “Philippines vs Mexico: The Rematch,” the ALA
Promotions presentation, in cooperation with ABS-CBN, which will telecast the
fights on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. with a replay on Studio 23 at 6:30 p.m.,
promises to be a fight fans’ delight.
Martinez, who has tangled with such renowned fighters as
Lucas Matthysse, who had big wins against Humberto Soto and DeMarcus Corley,
has made it clear he isn’t awed by Jaca’s reputation as a heavy hitter.
The Filipino southpaw gave Mexican legend Juan Manuel
Marquez all he could handle before being stopped in the ninth round on Nov. 25,
2006.
“I have the power in both hands to take care of Jaca and
knock him out,” the 21-year-old Martinez boasted.
The Mexican youngster said he is a natural light
welterweight, while Jaca’s knockouts came in fights in lower weight divisions
he used to fight in.
