Salakayan Festival of Miagao 2015 Schedule of Activities


One of the most visited and inviting celebrations in the province of Iloilo is the Salakayan festival of Miagao. The Salakayan Festival is held every first week of February. This year festival theme “Sa Pagbag-o nga Mainuswagon, Pinanubling Miagaowanon Tipigan Naton." The Salakayan, coined from a Hiligaynon term “salakay” or “ to attack,” is a street dance-drama that merges arts, lore and customs of the town.

It tells of personal power and daily activities of the people. The main theme depicts the victorious battle waged by the locals against Muslim marauders sometime in 1754. 

An important historical occasion for the people of Miagao, this annual festivity attracts guests to its activity of Pamukaw, Fun Run, fluvial Parade and Blessing of Boats, Capt. Teves Pabalhas sa Baras 2015, Battle of the Sounds, Opening Salvo, Food Fair Awarding of Salakayan Basketball Cup 2015, Search for Miss Salakayan 2015, SIPC Night, Aro Trade Fair, DEPEd Day, MCES Night, Seafarers Medical Mission, Miagao Deals Awarding, MCES and MVS Class 1977 and 1981 Night, Massage Therapy Blind Masseurs, Sine Ta Dya, Higantes Showdown, Liga Night/Fund Raising, Investment Forum, Balik Banwa Night, Vendor's Night, Tribes Competition, Float Parade, Tribes Awarding Ceremonies, Fireworks Display, Fun Run, Motorcross, Fun Ride, Awarding of Outstanding Miagaowanon, Coronation of Queen of Miagao 2015.

It tells of personal power and daily activities of the people. The main theme depicts the victorious battle waged by the locals against Muslim marauders sometime in 1754. Salakayan Festival 2013 Schedule of Activities


The Salakayan Festival of Miagao is celebrated every first week of February. Salakayan, coined from a Hiligaynon term “salakay” or “ to attack,” is a street dance-drama that merges arts, lore and customs of the town.

It tells of personal power and daily activities of the people. The main theme depicts the victorious battle waged by the locals against Muslim marauders sometime in 1754. An important historical occasion for the people of Miag-ao, this annual festivity attracts guests to its weeklong activity of Food Fair, Agro-industrial and Trade Fair, Fluvial Parade, Higante contest, Literary Musical contest, Evening Socials, balik banwa of the Miagaowanon from other country, the hablon and patadyong Fashion show. The Gigantes Festival, personifying the prominent persons in Miagao’s history in large well-made mascots, the tribe competition is the highlight of the event.
