Watch PBA Game 2 Alaska vs. Barangay Ginebra

Watch PBA Game 2 Alaska vs. Barangay Ginebra today at Mall of Asia Arena. A faulty start in Game 1 proved costly for the Barangay Ginebra Kings.  The Kings couldn’t afford to commit the same mistake again as they shoot for a much-needed victory when they tangle with the Alaska Aces tonight in Game 2 of their best-of-five championship series of the 38th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.

In the Game 1 the Aces dominated the Kings from the get go en route to tallying an 87-70 victory to take a crucial 1-0 lead in the short series.
Everything went wrong for the Kings as they fell behind early, 0-14. Alaska led by as many as 30 points in the period before holding off Ginebra’s several mini runs in the final canto.

“This is huge,” said Alaska coach Luigi Trillo of the team’s masterful victory. “When you look at it, the games are set every other day. “We took care of business today. This is a short series. They have to figure (things) out for Friday and turn around and do it again Sunday.”

Alaska showed why it is the best defensive team in the league  as it limited Ginebra to just six points in the first period, which is the lowest in any opening period and equals the third lowest all-time score in any quarter in PBA finals history.

“We need to play to our identity. They run-and-gun, get a lot of energy from the crowd when they do certain things,” said Trillo. We gave them six points in the first quarter. I think that’s our identity, defense.”

Apart from its stingy defense, the Aces was also efficient in the offensive end as six Aces each scored in double figures.

RJ Jazul came off the best to score a team-high 16 points. Import Rob Dozier tallied 14 points and 22 rebounds, Sonny Thoss had 12 markers, while Calvin Abueva, Jvee Casio and Cyrus Baguio chipped in 10 each.

Vernon Macklin and LA Tenorio were the only Kings twin digits with 16 and 14 markers, respectively.
