2013 Dinagyang Kasadyahan and Ati Competition Parade Route

Dinagyang is Iloilo City’s version of the Ati-Atihan festival widely celebrated not only in Panay Island but also in other parts of the country. It may not be as ancient as the one in Kalibo in Aklan Province, but is definitely impressive in choreography and striking in terms of the various attires worn by participating tribes which reflect the ingenuity, craftsmanship and artistry of the Ilonggos.

An Ilonggo term for revelry or merrymaking, Dinagyang was coined in 1977 by Ilonggo writer/broadcaster Pacifico Sudario to describe the riotous celebration. Prior to this, Dinagyang was labeled “Iloilo Ati-Atihan” to differentiate it from other Ati-Atihan festivals.

Below is the route of the Carousel Parade Route for both Kasadyahan and Ati Grand Parades of Dinagyang Festival 2013:

Performance Area 1: Freedom Grandstand

Sadsad Parade Area: JM Basa Street (from Freedom Grandstand to corner Aldeguer Street)

Street Dancing Performance Area: JM Basa Street (from corner Aldeguer to Plazoleta Gay)

Sadsad Parade Area: Iznart Street (from Plazoleta Gay to Capitol)

Performance Area 2: Iloilo Provincial Capitol-Arroyo Fountain

Sadsad Parade Area: General Luna Street-Quezon Street (from Capitol to Quezon Street-near Payless Plaza)

Street Dancing Performance Area: Quezon Street (near Payless Plaza to corner Delgado Street)

Sadsad Parade Area: Quezon Street (corner Delgado Street to corner Ledesma Street)

Performance Area 3: Quezon-Ledesma Streets

Sadsad Parade Area: Ledesma Street (from corner Quezon Street to Plazoleta Gay)

Street Dancing Performance Area: Iznart Street (from Plazoleta Gay to corner J.De Leon Street)

Sadsad Parade Area: Iznart Street (from corner J De Leon Street to corner Aldeguer Street)

Performance Area 4: Maria Clara Stage

Sadsad Parade Area: Rizal-Mapa Street (from Maria Clara-Central Market, turn left to Mapa Street and back to Freedom Grandstand).

Legend:

Performance Areas – Performance stages for the Ati and Kasadyahan dance showdown/competition.

Sadsad Parade Area – Areas wherein the people can dance together with the Ati or Kasadyahan tribes and take photos. It is also an area for preparation and brief rest of competing tribes before the next competing area.

Street Dancing Performance Area – Judging areas for street dance performance of competing Ati and Kasadyahan contingents.
